Not for Sale

Our bake sale for October was to have been yesterday, but fell through at the last moment, because the area was booked out for part of the 350 International Day of Climate Action. Great cause — if only we'd realised sooner, and saved ourselves all that baking for nothing! Ah well, we can look forward to November 28th. And it meant that I had a whole feast of cupcakes to take with me when I visited my parents for the weekend. They looked something like this:

Today I attended a cake decorating workshop with Mandee, run by Sharon Wee (go to her blog and marvel!) We each started with our own dozen vegan cupcakes, and had a fun few hours playing with the fondant icing, food colours and little cutting shapes, leading to some rather visually pleasing results. There are definitely a few ideas and techniques that I'll be turning to again before long.
